Heating in Devonport

Heating in Devonport.

01

Five cold months.

At the Bureau's Devonport Airport station, average overnight lows sit below 7 °C from May to September, dropping to 4.8 °C in July. Cold mornings are when an undersized unit shows itself.

02

Older weatherboards.

Many pre-1980 Devonport weatherboards still run ceramic-fuse switchboards. A heat pump needs its own circuit, so we look at the board before we quote and tell you plainly if it needs attention.

03

Bass Strait air.

Near the foreshore, salt air is hard on anything bolted to an outside wall. We'll talk through where the outdoor unit goes and how it's fixed.

FAQ

Devonport heat pump questions.

Split, multi-head or ducted for a Devonport home?

A single split suits one main living area. Two or three rooms usually point to a multi-head. Ducted makes sense when you want the whole house heated and there's roof space to work with. We'll show you the running costs of each before you decide.

Do you cover Latrobe and the surrounding area?

Yes. Our Devonport runs reach East Devonport, Spreyton, Latrobe, Quoiba, Don and Miandetta.

Will my old switchboard cope with a heat pump?

That depends on its age and spare capacity. If it needs work, we'll itemise that on the quote, so you can see what the heat pump costs and what the board costs. More on switchboard upgrades in Devonport.

How long does an install take?

Most single back-to-back splits are done in 3 to 5 hours. If the pipe run is long, the unit goes upstairs or you're fitting a multi-head, allow half a day to two days. You'll have the estimate before we book.

“We're not the biggest sparkies in Tassie. We just want to be the ones you trust enough to ring twice.”
